Ongoing work

We have been designing the structure of The Lyre of Thirst and laser-cutting small prototypes to visualize how the final installation will look. These prototypes also helped us test the engraved patterns for the tubes that will pump water to the top of the piece. Our next step is to book a session to use the CNC machine to begin working on the full-scale version.

Additionally, we are designing the lower part of the Lyre that will include a 3d printed bowl to store water and a wooden box to store the circuit and water pump.

3D design

We are also in the process of selecting the right type of water pump. Since we currently do not have access to an EcoFlow battery, we need to make sure the pump we buy can operate efficiently with the power options available on site. This however will be decided and ordered today.

What technical problems are still in progress?
We are still deciding whether to use one or multiple distance sensors. Adding more sensors would allow for greater interactivity, but it also brings technical challenges related to wiring, power management, and calibration. We are testing different setups to find a balance between functionality and simplicity.
