The Eye of the Sands by Mariam Abdelrazek, QM Naushadal Islam Tameem, Hasibur Rahman and Ahmed Bilal.

‘The Eye of the Sands’ is a kinetic desert sculpture by Hasibur Rahman, Q M Naushad, Ahmed Bilal, and Mariam Abdelrazek. In the depths of the desert the Eye of the Sands stands guard– a mysterious, silent watcher. This ethereal installation pierces the darkness with its glowing eye, nestled in a stretched membrane held taut between two illuminated pillars that seem to emerge from the ancient sands themselves. The eye at its heart serves as a powerful reminder that these seemingly barren landscapes pulse with hidden life, watching and waiting as travelers pass through their realm. Like an ancient guardian awakened, the installation transforms the nocturnal desert into a space of mystery and awareness, where the observer becomes the observed. Its otherworldly presence speaks to a deeper truth: that the desert has always been alive, has always been watching, has always known more than we imagine. The Eye of the Sands stands as a bridge between worlds – the seen and unseen, the empty and the occupied, the passive and the alert – inviting us to reconsider our relationship with these timeless landscapes that have witnessed countless passages through their silent expanses.
